The resort regularly welcomes skiers and partygoers all the way through the spring, with the promise of legendary off-piste territory to explore across the vast 305km of varied terrain. State-of-the-art lifts link the local area with Lech and Zurs across the Arlberg ski region, meaning there is plenty of choice if you are on the hunt for the freshest powder. Best places to go skiing in April

La Plagne

La Plagne is the best place to go skiing in April if you are looking to spend Easter on the slopes with all the family. The resort is comprised of 11 villages, with the highest village Belle Plagne regarded as the best centre for families. There is a large choice of ski-in ski-out accommodation, meaning skiers can enjoy quick and easy access to the slopes and to the high-altitude Bellecote glacier that sits just above the resort, which offers snow-sure runs throughout the season. All abilities are catered for, with the accessible Paradiski area providing everything from nursey runs to snow parks, Europe’s longest funslope and even a toboggan run. Children under the age of 5 can claim a free lift pass, whilst advanced skiers can try the black runs and off-piste territory. Get stuck into the 425km of slopes, and then pass leisurely, sunny evenings dining at the resort’s family-friendly restaurants, which serve up hearty Alpine dishes in a classic rustic setting.

Best places to ski in April

Geilo

If you are choosing where to ski in April, and would like to try somewhere a little off the beaten track, then the scenic resort of Geilo in Norway should be at the top of your list. This picturesque ski town is renowned for its huge offering of late season snow – which, when combined with its blissfully quiet slopes, makes for a magical experience. Norway’s shorter winter days will have stretched out to provide daylight up until 7pm by the springtime, and the temperatures are typically wonderfully warm and inviting, making this sun kissed town one of the best places to ski in April. Where to ski in April

Tignes

Purpose-built to occupy a prime, high-altitude location with unparalleled access to the Espace Killy ski area; Tignes is one of the best places to go skiing in April for an abundance of snow-sure terrain. With 300km of slopes reaching up to a peak altitude of 3,456m at the skiable Grande Motte glacier, this varied ski area offers something for every type of skier, with many hailing April as the month that offers the best skiing of the season. The resort is so confident in its late season snow that it typically schedules to stay open until around May 10th, serving up the longest season of any resort in Europe. Down in the town, you can expect a lively après scene that also shows no signs of slowing down towards the end of the season, with parties taking place in both Tignes and the neighbouring connected resort of Val d’Isère.

Livigno

If you are wondering where to ski in April in Italy, then Livigno may well be the perfect choice. Regarded as one of the most snow-sure resorts in the country, this charming village offers one of Italy’s longest ski seasons thanks to its reputation for very cold winter months. This helps to preserve a fantastic base of snow for the spring, which can be enjoyed across 115km of runs that are perfectly suited to beginners and intermediates. Val Thorens

Europe’s highest ski resort, Val Thorens, sits at 2,300m with slopes reaching up to 3,230m, which makes it one of the best places to ski in April. You’ll often find the finest conditions in the Three Valleys around Val Thorens with snow all but guaranteed late into the season and the resort open until the start of May. A lot of the slopes here are north-facing, which protects the snow on sunny spring afternoons.
